Standortvarianten für eine Murgang-Testanlage im Bereich des Zentrums am Berg am Steirischen Erzberg

Abstract

Debris flows occur as a result of heavy rainfall events and usually lead to enormous damage. Experiments are used to simulate debris flows under controlled boundary conditions in order to investigate the processes involved more closely and to test debris flow barriers. For a planned debris flow test facility, location alternatives in the area of the "Zentrum am Berg" at the Styrian Erzberg are analysed. The aim of this thesis is to determine possible sites on the basis of their advantages and disadvantages. The basics of debris flows are discussed. The understanding of the mechanisms involved is crucial for the dimensioning of the mixing reservoir, the test channel and the discharge zone of the planned debris flow test facility. The pre-selection of an appropriate site is carried out with the help of a digital terrain model based on a laser scan. These sites are then evaluated in detail with regard to visibility, available space, infrastructure and other criteria. Due to different slope geometries and boundary conditions, an individual construction variant results for each site. The costs for each location are additionally estimated on the basis of these construction alternatives.
