Schnittstellendefinition und -optimierung Einkauf/Logistik

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

This master thesis reflects the findings obtained during my employment at Sandvik Mining and Construction Materials Handling GmbH & Co KG Leoben and the results based on them, taking into consideration the various problems arising from cross-departmental collaboration. It deals with the processes at the interfaces, illustrating the challenges and potentials for optimization. The general description of an organizational interface between two departments at the beginning of the thesis demonstrates the importance of a good relationship and co-operation to achieve a better position of the company in the global competition. Furthermore, this chapter gives basic information about the topic of interfaces. Subsequently the demonstration of the processes at the interfaces between procurement and logistics departments shows the main challenges, such as missing acceptance of the duties of the other department, additional work and loss of information. The reasons for the before said are basically the lack of communication and a silo thinking of each department. Finally, continuous team meetings, trainings and work shops as well as the increased use of software systems (SAP) are suggested to make interfaces more effective.
