Abstract
The soft martensitic steel X5CrNi13-4 offers good mechanical properties and a good cavitation resistance, for those reasons it is often used for water power plant constructions. Many components like turbine blades have special free-form surfaces and therefore the use of additive manufacturing processes like the laser-powder bed fusion process (L-PBF) can be considered. The aim of this work is to investigate the production parameters for this material and the L-PBF-process in order to compare the properties of the additive manufactured test specimens to the conventional manufactured (forged) material. For this purpose a parameter study was carried out for a metalpowder on an EOSINT M280 system. Through the optimized settings it was possible to produce test specimens (tensile test, impact test), afterwards those samples underwent a heat treatment to determine the mechanical properties. Further, metallographic investigations are providing information on how the microstructure is changing during the heat treatment.
