Potenzialanalyse von Sektorkopplungstechnologien auf Kraftwerksebene

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

The progressive development of the renewable fluctuating energy sources comes with the needs of steady expansion of the related transmission infrastructure and the storage capacity of the systems. Because of the fact that the expansion is not possible in the needed scale, there is the alternative idea to connect different infrastructures via technologies of sector coupling, to use or store the energy in another way and to reduce to CO2 emission. The thesis should not only give an insight into the theoretical relationships between the different technologies of sector coupling, but also present examples of implemented projects and describe basic terms for the investment assessment of sector coupling technologies. In the practical part of the master's thesis, models from power to heat and power to gas systems powered by renewable energy (river power plant) are developed in order to gain more precise insights into the economic applicability of the technologies. The models serve as the basis for an investment valuation using levelized costs of the energy form. The results of the calculation provide information about the applicability of the technology models with conventional or alternative technologies and show to what extent the economic use of sector coupling technologies is possible. A subsequent risk assessment serves to evaluate the individual risk factors for the application of the technologies.
