Abstract
Lifting platforms for vehicles have to meet wide requirements. They have to fulfil the demands of the EN 1493 - standard for lifting platforms and also the customer wishes. The demand on a portable workstation, to do various jobs on a motor vehicle, is in practice guaranteed by mobile lifting platforms. A mobile lifting platform, constructed by ESTET Stahl und Behälterbau GmbH in the eighties, guarantee the high demands of the standard and fulfil the customer wishes most widely. However the high manufacturing costs are in opposite to the good functionality of this lifting platform (TWINSTAR). For manufacturing a competitive product, a redesign of the existing system is necessary respectively a new system has to be designed. In the first step all information about lifting platforms are collected. The study of literature and the study of used lifting platform systems give an overview about possible embodiments of these special lifting systems. Depending on the demands of the standard for motor vehicle lifting platforms, various drafts with different lifting devices are elaborated. For the selection of a suitable lifting system, which fulfils the demands of the standard and the costumer wishes, several criteria (loading capacity, safety, working comfort) have to be considered. Further more the mentioned possibilities can be reduced to a few technical and economical realisable variants. The reduction is enabled by an economic consideration of the lifting devices and by the technical analysis (verifying practicability and suitability) of the elaborated lifting platforms. Finally one variant remains, which fulfils the high demands of the standard and the customers. The last part of the study discusses the construction and the dimensioning of the remained variant. The new constructed lifting platform allows to increase the load capacity from 2.5 tons (TWINSTAR) up to 3 tons (new designed lifting platform), in comparison to the current variant. At the same time the manufacturing costs can be reduced about 10 - 15 %. In regard to series production the theoretical consideration of the study has to be checked by practical experience (producing and running a prototype).
