Optimierung der hydraulischen Vermessung einer Absorptionskolonne

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

A pilot plant was converted at the Department of Process Engineering in Leoben as part of the standardization process of hydraulic an mass transfer measurements at packed columns. The aim of this master thesis was to develop a measurement system for the determination of the liquid content of a packing, the so-called Hold up, that can be integrated into the system. Furthermore, the consisting gas flow measurements (flow grid) as well as the entire system were checked for any potential errors. In order to investigate the mass transfer for CO2 desorption in the pilot plant, a Basic Engineering for CO2 saturation in the liquid was implemented. An additional ultrasonic device for gas flow measurement was installed due to discrepancies caused by the flow grids unfavourable installation position. This master thesis concludes with a complete hydraulic characterization of a packing (type Hiflow Plus #2). Finally, a comparison of measured data from research partners was drawn in order to evaluate the conversion and the generated measurement results.
