Online-FeO-Messung und Koksregulierung des Sinterprozesses

Abstract

This thesis evaluates the potential for coke reduction during the sinter production through the use of experiments. To accomplish this, an on-line measurement method is applied to the moving sinter conveyor belt called the Ramsay Coil. The coil was calibrated with the results from laboratory analyses at project start. This process was required as an initial step to directly convert the output results of the coil, normally reported in mA into %FeO. Results were subsequently processed (filtered and dampened) and displayed in the sinter-plant's control room. To verify the displayed FeO values, they were repeatedly compared over a long time period with the results from laboratory analyses. After the verification process was complete and the values of the display were compliant to laboratory analysis, a trail stage was established which regulated the coke feed using the proposed system. Furthermore, based on the FeO-trend, a user interface was developed which proposed to the on-site staff to adjust the quantity of coke. The complexity of the sinter production process required numerous measurements and analyses steps during the process. After a six-month test period, a considerable reduction of coke requirements has been observed.
