Abstract
Surface modification allows for the improvement of properties (e.g.: biocompatibility, barrier properties and aging stability) of various elastomers and also offers new approaches towards the development of tailored materials for specific applications. The present diploma thesis aims at the surface functionalization of UV cross-linked rubber latex films. New methods have been developed to saturate the C=C double bonds of the NR surface (to improve ozone stability) and to reduce the friction of the rubber surface. These methods include, on the one hand, the fluorination with different reactive gas mixtures (F2/N2/O2) and, on the other hand, the covalent attachment of functional groups employing wet chemical methods.
