Abstract
In times where concepts like digitalization, scarcity of resources and sustainability play a significant role in world affairs, companies are pushing ahead with projects which should avoid unnecessary expenses. This is also the case at voestalpine BÖHLER Aerospace GmbH & Co KG, a renowned supplier and developer of components for aviation that are relevant to security. Due to an internal project, which represents the content of this master thesis, a vibration measurement was implemented on an electrical motor which is used to drive a large hydraulic pump of a hydraulic forging press. The aim of the measurement is to realize a permanent condition monitoring system to avoid unplanned downtimes, excessive maintenance and associated costs. In this case, excessive maintenance stands for the intermittent replacement of components of the electrical motor without any evidence of damage, which can¿t be called a resource-efficient way of proceeding. To verify the feasibility of the planned project, there was support from the Montanuniversität in form of the Chair of Mechanical Engineering, through which measurements were taken with a Laser-Doppler-Vibrometer to determine the optimal points to measure on the aggregate and to generate comparative data with which the internal measured data should be compared. After a lengthy research period, the electrical motor was equipped with acceleration sensors and the measurement equipment was set up permanent. One requirement for the selection of the components was to design the measurement system in a way that allows to integrate it into the company¿s existing data system. This also applies to the software, which is required for recording and evaluating the data. The analysis of the data presented a difficult challenge. Especially the harsh environment of the forging plant as well as the driven pumps had a strong influence on the results of the measurements on the electrical motor. To avoid unwanted stochastic influences as good as possible, weekly tests were carried out under as similar conditions as possible to record the data. In addition to the comparison of the results of two different software tools, the evaluation of the measured data of eighteen weekly tests is a central point of the master thesis. To proof if the internal measurement setup yields valid results, a comparison of the data recorded at the same time as the Chair of Mechanical Engineering was carried out. The results of the measurements show that the implemented vibration measurement system produces valid results, which may help to detect upcoming damage on the aggregates in the future.
