Abstract
The aim of this master thesis is to develop a concept in order to create a fluorite concentrate from the tailings of a barite-flotation. The first step is to collect samples from a hydrocyclone equipped with different underflow nozzles. The impact of different apex nozzles is examined on the water separation and the losses of fines in the underflow. The optimum operating point is obtained by a compromise between the water content and losses of fines. The second part of the thesis deals with the flotation of barite samples performed in a laboratory scale. The findings are used for the flotation plant design. The last step is the initial start-up of the flotation plant including the implementation of the results obtained so far. A comprehensive sampling campaign of the plant is accomplished including the preparation of efficiency curves in the mineral processing laboratory.
