Abstract

The aim of this diploma thesis is the calculation of the tensions and distortions of a construction consisting of two different types of plastics. It is a container consisting of several components built on top of each other. During the process these parts are contaminated with hot sulfuric acid, at the same time they are cooled via air channels. Due to these surrounding conditions a temperature gradient occurs in some areas of the part. This temperature gradient, the weight of the part itself and the tension force of the screw connection applies stress onto the entire part. All calculations were carried out with the Finite Elements Method (FEM). Two stress situations with two different sulfuric acid temperatures were simulated. All calculations were carried out geometrically non linear with interknot elements. Due to the expected low strains a linear material law was applied. The calculations showed that the tensions are uncritical concerning the necessary mechanical limits of the used material. Due to the low strains it can be assumed that the material will not creep. The simulation showed that no restrictions should occur during the deformation process.
