Abstract

In the cable car technology is the ambition for higher flow rates and the associated higher power ratings of the respective cable car systems. During the transfer of drive torque to the rope, slip resistance must be guaranteed for every possible load case. The rope pulley lining is to ensure this security. The aim of this work is to determine the dynamic coefficients of friction in comparison to the static friction coefficients for different pulley lining materials. In the context of this work an experimental facility was constructed, with which it is possible to perform the friction measurement using a revolving rope. Continuative the influence of moisture and the influence of the cable twist on the static and dynamic friction coefficients of each pulley lining materials was investigated. As a part of the evaluation the dynamic and the static coefficients of friction were presented in charts as a function of each selected surface pressure between the rope and the pulley for the different operating situations. The results obtained have shown that the different dependencies of the static and the dynamic friction coefficients of the surface pressure depending on the nature of the tested rope pulley lining material.
