Abstract

All businesses that rely on a warehouse, regardless of suppliers or manufacturing companies, depend on a reliable warehouse infrastructure. Ideally, this warehouse infrastructure should be able to adapt to current market and demand situations on a recurring basis. To cope with such changes, accurate warehouse monitoring in the form of a control station is essential. In today¿s automated warehouse, a control station is an indispensable component for ensuring active warehouse operation. A limitation of current control stations, however, is the fact that very often only the actual current state of the warehouse on site is displayed. However, for external observers and resources, an automated warehouse can already provide relief in many areas and scenarios from the commissioning and ramp-up phase of a warehouse by means of visualized tracking of load carriers and system statuses. Both change and error scenarios and their processing time can be greatly simplified and shortened by such functions, which go beyond those of a remote connection, by means of remote maintenance, whereby regular warehouse operation can be resumed quickly. In order to determine the framework conditions for telegram transmission and processing to a digital twin in the form of a simulation model based on real-time connectivity, this thesis will look at the current communication between the devices and components within an automated warehouse and analyze their transmitted telegrams for their transmission content. Following from this, the interfaces available in PlantSimulation are examined. After a connection to the simulation has been established, the transmitted telegrams are analyzed and a protocol implementation as well as protocol processing in PlantSimulation are created. The aim of this thesis is the implementation of a digital twin based on the template of a real-life warehouse construction project by SSI-Schäfer as well as the determination of latency times during the transmission. This serves as a basis for a real-time connection to a real-life warehouse operation with the aim of pointing out the necessary framework conditions for this implementation.
