Abstract

The aim of this diploma thesis is to improve the threading of steel strips in steel belt systems. For this purpose the inlet area of a continuously running steel belt system has been investigated. The mode of operation of the various system parts has been documented and described and emerging problems have been detected. The most common reason for the disturbances and thus for the reduction in output of the plant is the crashing of the strip towards edges and flanges. That is why the tip of the steel strip cannot be threaded reliably. Therefore, to avoid these problems, it is necessary that the tip of the steel strip has an exactly defined curvature. In this work existing solutions concerning the investigated plant system for bending steel strips were optimized with the purpose to get a better bending result. Furthermore, to fulfil this intention, two versions of a bending device and two versions of a clamping-bending device have been developed constructively and calculative. Finally, a new threading concept will be presented with which the steel strip can be threaded into the system simply and robustly.
