Abstract
At the department of plastics processing in Leoben a number of material data is measured. The material data for shear viscosity, wall slippage, pvT-data, heat conductivity, heat capacity and the parameters of the appropriate mathematical approximation shall be parts of a central database. With this database the data availability as well as the data management is improved.
The material-database is realized as a relational database with Access 97 and Origin 5.0 as graphic- and calculation server. The measurements are read from files and diagrams are painted with this data. With the help of these graphs a mathematical approximation can be choosen and the parameters for the statement are feeded into the computer or calculated. The determined parameters of a material and the graph belonging to it can be saved permanently in the database.
A user can ask a query to the database and receives a filtered information as result. These queries are sended to the database either from an external program via an interface or are feeded directly in the database management system. The result can then be processed by the external program or be saved in a file with varying formats by the database management system.
