Abstract
In the near future several large underground infrastructure projects will be started in which squeezing rock conditions will be an issue. Currently, the support measures in squeezing rock conditions are a combination of a shotcrete lining and yielding elements with lattice girders and bolts. The application of the necessary yielding elements, which are accommodating the main convergences, has to be carried out in a separate work step. In recent years the company Schretter und Cie developed a compressible mortar to fulfill the annular gap in mechanical excavated tunnels with tubbing support measures. The experiences out of this development should be considered when developing a compressible shotcrete. This product could be applied in tunnels build by the New Austrian Tunneling Method and would provide an uninterrupted homogeneous lining, which would be of great advantage. In a first step of this work, in collaboration with the company Schretter und Cie the range of the material parameters relating to the desired deformation behavior and strength were set. Shotcrete experiments were executed at the company Schretter and Cie. The focus of these experiments was on structural engineering and construction logistics. The evaluation of the compressibility of the shotcrete by uniaxial compressive strength tests were carried out at the chair of Subsurface Engineering in Leoben. Besides the uniaxial compressive strength the deformation modulus, the youngs modulus, the maximum compression and the poissons ratio were determined in these tests. Following the laboratory tests a large-scale test using the newly developed shotcrete with a diameter of about 3,4 m and a length of about 1,0 m was designed and carried out.
