Abstract
In order to be able to operate chemical recycling on an industrial scale, the company OMV has the vision to operate a thermal-chemical conversion plant with a capacity of 25 t/h in the near future within the refinery in Schwechat, Lower Austria. Polyolefin and polystyrene rich plastic fractions, so called POS-fractions, are to be recycled here, with an annual volume of 200.000 t being expected. These plastic fractions will be extracted from various plastic waste in Europe-wide production plants. For logistical and traffic reasons, the delivery of these material quantities must take place outside the refinery. Several positions can be considered for this, whereby suitable concepts must be developed in each case regarding unloading, storage, transfer and the internal transport of the POS-fractions, taking into account economic and technical aspects. In addition, a high degree of automation must be aimed for in the overall concept. The solution of this problem is the task of the present master thesis, whereby the aspects concerning unloading, storage and transfer of the POS fractions are taken up in detail and linked to the internal transport. In addition, possibilities for the processing of the plastic fractions are considered in order to make the handling of the material during transport, storage, etc. as efficient as possible. Within the scope of the work, the theoretical basics regarding the described aspects are worked out at the beginning, which represent the basis for the subsequent concept development. In this context, different scenarios are developed for each delivery position, whereby both technical and economic aspects are considered and analyzed in detail. Finally it is shown that the delivery of the POS-fractions in the form of wrapped square bales is the technically and economically best solution. An efficient overall concept with a simultaneous high degree of automation is made possible with storage and internal transport of the bales in special containers.
