Abstract

The aim of this thesis was the development of an applicable heat treatment for 7075 aluminium wrought alloy to increase strength and ductility at good corrosion properties for the usage in aviation industries. The idea was to design a microstructure, which provides a high density of precipitates (GP, η‘), a reduced amount of grain boundary particles affecting corrosion as well as a small grain size. The developed process consists of: Solution treatment - cold rolling - 1. artificial ageing - recovery treatment - 2. artificial ageing. For the determination of the most suitable parameters, the extent of the degree of the deformation (ε = 60 % or 40 %), the temperature in 1. artificial ageing (145 °C, 155 °C und 165 °C) and the temperature in recovery treatment (360 °C, 380 °C und 400 °C) was varied. To analyze the suitability of the process, hardness measurements, tensile tests as well as light microscopically investigations were conducted. Hereby it could be shown, that the higher the temperature in recovery treatment is, the harder and stronger the materials get. Furthermore a higher degree of deformation appears to increase the properties of the aluminium, whereas the effect of different temperatures in 1. artificial ageing is negligible.
