Abstract

The simulation of the injection moulding process is nowadays an important part of injection moulding. With the aid of the simulation it is possible to detect potential problems already in the product development process. The identification of these problems can avoid a possible cost explosion in the realization process of the part. A basis for an adequate realistic simulation is among other things a reliable material database. Within this thesis the influence of the specific heat capacity cp on the warpage calculation with Moldflow Plastics Insight (MPI) was investigated. Therefore a limited number of different parts were simulated and experimentally validated, once with a constant value for the heat capacity and again with a temperature dependent value. The investigations were done with the plastics POM, PA6 and PA6GF30. The results for POM showed a significant improvement of the warpage prediction with the temperature dependent values for the specific heat capacity. Contrary, the investigations with PA6 and PA6GF30 did not show any noticable improvements when using temperature dependent values.
