Abstract
This master's thesis investigates the possibilities for the efficient and sustainable use of energy in mines. The focus is not only on the integration of renewable energy sources such as wind, solar energy, geothermal energy, and biomass, as well as energy storage solutions, but also on examining the specific conditions of the mine for the integration of these technologies. This includes, among other things, the use of cavities in the mine as storage, the provision of areas for wind and photovoltaic systems, and the use of constant underground temperatures for geothermal applications. Through a comprehensive literature review, existing technologies are identified and evaluated. The thesis demonstrates how these technologies can contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs. Economic analyses provide insights into cost structures and economic conditions. Case studies of successful implementations illustrate practical applications and challenges. The results of this thesis provide valuable insights for the sustainable development of the mining industry and contribute to the energy transition.
