N2 - At LO Trimouns (Rio Tinto Minerals) in France the excavation of waste material is done by drilling, blasting, loading and hauling. Through a lot of measuerments and observations taken in the field an optimization of the whole drill-blast-load-haul cycle could be avhieved. Specifically it ended in a total change of the blasting pattern wich could be tested in the mine. Proposals were made regarding the change of the geometric layout of the overburden benches.
