Abstract
Sinter is one of the most important materials to produce raw iron from iron ore. For the efficiency of the blast furnace process it is crucial to have stable specific values to characterize the sinter-quality as e.g. chemical composition, grain size distribution, tumble strength, low-temperature reduction-disintegration and reducibility. These quality criteria are examined according to ISO-tests. Additionally to the characterization of the sinter-quality two other problem statements are materialized in the cause of this thesis. These are the question of inhomogeneity of the sinter (due to irregularities in the reactions along the sinter belt) and the question of effects of different sinter-parameters. In a first experimental series 20 singular samples are taken from the sinter belt and divided into four groups. Each group is united to a collective sample. This sequence of sample taking showed that deviations in the results occurred especially at smaller sample volumes, whereas the mean values of the single samples aligned with the collective sample at larger sample volumes. Therefore already single samples can be representative at tests with larger sample volumes. For the second experimental series the sinters (as collective samples) of different days are compared with (by) different process parameters. It can be shown that the chemical analysis partially provides information about the sinter properties. The influence of slag formers as well as the influence of the FeO-quantity on tumble strength and reducibility can be seen. Hereby the reducibility decreases with increasing mechanical stability and the other way round as the influences are contrary.
