Abstract

This master thesis deals with 2 topics related to quality assurance and quality control in the processing chain of the ore from the “Steirischen Erzberg”. On the one hand, a calculation model for the forecast of the annual possible operating result, taking into account the newly introduced sorting methods, on the other hand, an energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer for the analysis of fused bead samples is put into operation parallel to the operational analysis. In addition to the (historical) data already available at the chair of mineral processing, current data from sampling campaigns in the years from 2017 to 2019 also serve as a database for the creation of the model. Based on this model, changes in mass yield and product grade can be predicted if the settings of the processing plant are varied. The model is used to draw up an annual plan when the quality from the crude ore is specified or, subsequently, to enable short-term plant adjustment in order to achieve the required quality characteristics of the blending bed. The second part of the work includes an apparatus characterization as well as a description of the procedure for calibrating the X-ray fluorescence spectrometer to the element characteristics in ore samples of the “Steirischen Erzberg”. The preparation in order to create fused bead samples is described.
