Abstract
The anodic oxidation by using diamond electrodes is an electrochemical treatment process for wastewater. This is a so called Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP). Through the appliance of direct current to the electrodes, the oxidants needed for degrading the pollutants are formed directly from the treated wastewater. The production residua (oil, fat, etc.) at the castings which are formed in the production facilities of Hawle Armaturen GmbH are removed by the use of detergents. This is important to afford the application of powder coatings without any difficulty. In certain time intervalls the detergents have to be exchanged and disposed of expensively. Within this project it should be checked, if an alternative wastewater treatment by using diamond electrodes ensuing indirect discharge would be cheaper than the current external disposal. Beside the economic comparison of the current external disposal and the treatment by using diamond electrodes, laws in the field of authorisation, handling and monitoring of wastewater treatment facilities are focussed on. In addition, search is done on the guidelines for indirect dischargers and regulations in the field of wastewater taxes. By COD-degradation tests the procedural feasibility of a wastewater treatment facility by using diamond electrodes and the modification of several chemical characteristics during the tests (mainly COD, AOX, etc.) are screened.
