Abstract

The flatness of strips is one of the most important quality issues during cold rolling. To reach an optimal flatness for further production steps, several influences must be known. In this present thesis the impact factors of the flatness actuators, work roll bending, work roll tilting and the speed, were shown. Further influences which are mentioned in the literature, e.g. the work roll crown, the temperature gradient across the strip width and the roll roughness, were analyzed in experiments. The effects of these parameters on the flatness could be proved. From these experiments, the dependence of the individual influences of each other can be seen. The experiments were made for one strip dimension. The results are not a universal statement for further strips with different dimensions and materials Out of these experiments the dependencies of the individual influences are detected. The experiments led to an optimal roll crown for the used strip dimensions and for the following process. Conclusions of these results to other dimension or materials can limited be considered.
