Abstract

This master thesis deals with the topography characterization of coil-coated sheets with a special focus on the automation of measurement and evaluation methods. As characterization method contactless confocal microscopy was used. Undeformed as well as deformed sheets were investigated (deformation rate of 3%, 6%, 9% and 12%) with two different coatings. The measurement of the topography and the analysis of vertical and lateral roughness parameters were automated implementing script files. From the three-dimensional topography data, standardized as well as from correlation functions deduced vertical and lateral parameters were determined. In general a good agreement of the vertical roughness parameter of the standardized methods and the parameter of the correlation functions was obtained. Depending on the degree of deformation anisotropic features were found on length scales ranging from 100 micrometer to 10000 micrometer.
