Auslegung und Konstruktion einer kryogenen Hochdruckpumpe mit Antriebseinheit für flüssiges Erdgas im Nutzfahrzeugbereich

Abstract

Environmental pollution and shortage of resources are issues, which concern more and more. These are just a few reasons why the market offers an increasing number of alternative and environmentally friendly gears for cars. The substitution of conventional diesel by liquefied natural gas (LNG) in haul trucks is one of this solutions. Its advantage is a higher energy density compared to compressed natural gas (CNG). To secure a reliable operating of LNG-systems, there are numerous technical problems to solve. The conveyance of the fluid is one of the issues, which will be handled within this thesis. The liquefied natural gas has to be pumped at temperatures between -110°C and -170°C and pressures up to 500 bar. There are already systems for lower pressures available on the market, but their efficiency is not satisfying, their constructed space is too big and their life span is too short. By studying previous solutions, patents and relevant literature, various approaches and recommendations for design could be determined. With this background and the given requirements a detailed specification sheet and design principles could be defined. Various options for the drive unit and the insertion in the tank were developed, evaluated and finally an appropriate concept was selected, dimensioned and constructed.
