Abstract

An increasing complexity of production facilities together with a stronger cost pressure forces the companies to operate a sophisticated asset management. The urge of a higher reliability becomes stronger and stronger. For this reason, the target is to develop future based strategy proposals instead of the failure oriented strategies actually used at the location Veitsch of RHI AG. The basis for developing the strategies was a detailed analysis of the current state according to the maintenance of the location Veitsch of RHI AG. During this analysis the structure of maintenance, the planning and execution of maintenance activities as well as the organisational structure and the existing SAP system was analysed. As a finding of this analysis a restructuring of the maintenance areas as well as an adaption of the SAP system, which is used for maintenance, could be beneficial for implementation of new maintenance strategies. As a basis for the strategy development a material based bottleneck analysis was made. Further a calculation of the asset-index was performed which is based on different maintenance related key figures. This calculated index and the standard margin of each facility were used in the developed strategy matrix. Out of this matrix suggestions for new maintenance strategies could be done. Beyond that a maintenance cost analysis of the stone production area could be found in this thesis. Subsequently, a number of proposals to the further implementation of the derived maintenance strategies have been worked out.
