Abstract

In this thesis a reprocessing plant in service for the processing of electric and electronic devices was analyzed by processing researches regarding its improvement and expansion capabilities. In this specific reprocessing plant the base material is handled using the core processes of reprocesses: milling, sieving and sorting (magnetic separation and hand picking). This results in two remnants named “Durchlauf” and “Feinanteil”. Those two fractions are being analyzed in this paper. The results in this thesis are based on comprehensive characterization of both fractions, which was done by the so-called “Merkmalsklassenanalyse”. Predicated on technical experiments, which were based on milling, magnetic separation, Eddy current separation and sorting with the aid of near-infrared sensors are used to test the prospects of success for the industrial scale. Furthermore the results are used for suggestions on an optimized enrichment of valuable scrap. The mass yield of the so-called “Durchlauf” is composed of 7 % magnetic material and 9 % of nonferrous metals based on previous milling. The sorting of synthetic material (Polystyrene, Polypropylene and Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) out of the remaining material gives a proportionately mass yield of 21 %. Furthermore a proportionately mass of 2.5 to 4 % of copper can be excavated from the remaining material resulting on this treatment. With a proportionately mass yield of 1.6 % the bulk fractions, which are found in the course of the attempts of milling the “Durchlauf”, constitute a decisive challenge for reprocessing sequence. Regarding the “Feinanteil” a mass yield of 14 % for the high ferromagnetic materials can be stated. The findings gained within this thesis were formed to suggestions for the construction and connection to allow an exclusion of the bulk fraction from the flow of materials and an improved mass yield of the valuable scrap.
