Ansätze zur Effizienzsteigerung im Kurzschienenlager der voestalpine Schienen GmbH

Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

This master thesis deals with the current warehouse management in the rail stock at Voestalpine Schienen GmbH. Warehousing shows sophisticated structures due to the variety of versions of the extensive product portfolio. The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate appropriate measures to increase the efficiency of the prevailing processes. The base for this builds a theoretical preparation of the involved range of subjects. The focus, in particular, lies on intralogistics. The basis consists of a broad data analysis and an inquiry of the current operative procedures to support the process comprehension. For this purpose all general frameworks, which have a bearing on the task, will be gathered. In detail, it is about the existing infrastructure, the process operations and the current underlying warehouse strategy. In order to be able to measure the processes it is necessary to develop appropriated operating numbers. For this purpose the theoretical preparation of the operating numbers takes places. Because of the general frameworks, standardized operating numbers are unrewarding in this subject matter. Additionally, with the help of an employee survey, a broad process analysis will be run to find further ranges of action. On the basis of the acquired data, potential discretion to acts will be derived. Furthermore, corresponding optimization measures will be demonstrated in order to reduce the impacts of the problematic issues and if possible to completely avoid them. Finally, a proportional estimate of costs of the developed arrangements (including trading recommendations) takes place.
