Abstract

The core issue of this master thesis was to develop a mining concept for a sand and gravel quarry in the Salzburg region. The first time mining operations were conducted in this area was in the mid 1940s. In the year 2007 a proceeding according §175 MinroG was initiated for the purpose of inspection. This proceeding showed that there was a need for a new concept, since the old mining concept of 1987 was no longer state of the art. In the planning the individual mining steps were demonstrated in several plans and the transportation method to the processing plant was designed. Due to the interbedded strata of flint and sand the mining has to be carried out by a bulldozer. This guarantees a blending of the different layers. The transportation of the material is arranged with a conveyor belt, which is extended by mobile conveyor belts in the mining area. Finally a reclamation concept has been developed. The reclamation is to be seen as a constant process, which needs to be done during mining.
