Abstract

BIM has become a keyword in construction in the recent years. This method brings many advantages of the traditional design method and is already widely used in civil construction. In civil engineering, especially in tunnel construction, this design method is still in its infancy. This is largely due to the inclined and curved geometries, the sheer size of tunnel projects and the unique construction of each project. The aim of this work was to create a 3D-BIM-model using the example of the ZaB – Zentrum am Berg and to show the difficulties of modelling. The first part of the work deals with the creation and integration of a data model (Microsoft Excel) for Support classes/support class distribution, which can be integrated into Autodesk Revit via a parametric 3D-family and with that a 3D BIM model for the outer shell is formed. The work also deals with the question of which parameters are necessary for a complete quantity determination and how these can be integrated in the model. The challenges are highlighted. A model was developed that contains all quantities related to a meter of tunnel according to the support class distribution, which can be linked to a service specification. This fills the gap between designing and tendering. Another point of the work is the thematization of the LoG (Level of Geometry); which accuracy is target-oriented or how detailed the representation of the Revit family must be. In the second part, the modeling of the structural concrete with the installations such as pipes, cable ducts, niches and cross passages is described in detail. Difficulties and challenges are also discussed.
