N2 - We got the assignment of writing a report as SIMS final report which should have relevant to SMC business and linked to our own position inside SMC. Zhang Yin, Meinhard and I decided to choose a group wider project related to China coal market and equipment selection as defined in the subject which we can contribute from different perception. My part included three topics in this first section: The first topic is about China coal market overview, discussed coal supply-demand situation and trend, coal industry investment, resource, production distribution, major customer, EHS and related regulation. The second topic is regarding China coal mining conditions and mining method, the major Sandvik competitors etc. The third topic is about the major factors which influence customer’s decision and Sandvik’s opportunities. Although China has become the largest cost production country in the world, there are not many both English and Chinese researches could be found about China coal market and equipment supply. This report made a broader discussion on China coal market especially from the equipment supplier’s interest and angle of view. This report clearly identifies the Sandvik have big opportunities in the area of China coal equipment supply. In reaching this conclusion a lot of researches regarding economic and industry aspects have been made. Some highlights of the report: 1.China coal demand and production have grown dramatically in recent years and shall continue this trend. 2.It shows that the strong confidence to the coal industry and upgrade of the technical and equipment. 3. Both global and local equipment suppliers attach great importance to China market. 4. Sandvik has good opportunity to develop business through organic increase, but increase offering through acquisition and merge can bring Sandvik to a much bigger addressable market.
